it says most webmasters are banning Yahoo spiders from their sites. Is this something I should do ?

I guess if you're really worried about bandwidth I might suggest using the robots.txt to ban Yahoo Slurp. Yahoo's engines do eat up a lot of bandwidth (especially on forums) and they return very little traffic but every little bit helps IMHO.
