The biggest single factor in search engine ranking is the number of sites with a high page rank that link to you. It's easy to get indexed, but if you don't appear on the first couple of pages in the results, it won't make much difference to your traffic. Work out what keywords people would be using when you want them to find you and make sure they are in the content and description on your home page. The meta keywords tag is ignored by all of the major engines now.
