I have been blogging in one way or another for about six or seven years now. Though I've moved from a simple Livejournal to a more sophisticated Blogger account, I have enjoyed writing and reading my entries throughout the years. It's brought a lot of joy to my life and has improved my writing skills tremendously. A lot of people wish they could get started with blogging but are unsure as to how. First, you have to answer some important questions before you can create your blog.

Why blog?

It's fun! It's a great outlet for your thoughts, feelings, and creative impulses. You can meet people from all over the world through your blog and let them get to know you, too.

Blog about what?

Your blog doesn't have to be autobiographical. In fact, most people choose specific topics to blog about. My blog  is autobiographical, but focuses on my struggles with mental illness. What are your hobbies, your passions, your interests? Use them as a guide for creating your blog. Or, if you're still not sure, you can create a simple daily journal.

Blog where?

There are a number of free blogging platforms out there. Blogger, Wordpress, Typepad, and Livejournal are just a few of the more popular blogging sites that I can think of off the top of my head. Investigate each one until you find one that suits your needs best.

Blog how?

Read other peoples' blogs to get an idea as to how you'd like to format your own blog. There are millions of blogs out there to choose from, so I'm sure you'll find something you'd like! If you don't find something that strikes you as a good read, come up with your own way of blogging.

Blog for money?

Blogging for money is very difficult. There are very few full-time bloggers out there that aren't freelancers working for companies. It is possible, though, to make some income if your blog becomes popular. Programs like Google Adsense allow bloggers to make money off advertisements on their blogs. Check out problogger.net for more tips on how to make money from your blog.

Blogging can be whatever you make of it: enriching, enlightening, enjoyable, entertaining, and everything in between. If you're curious about blogs or blogging, try checking out Technorati (technorati.com) and search for some blogs based on your interests to give you some inspiration. Give blogging a try today!

I think Janna is the one who made the story not the one who posted it.
