no, I think unless is a security feature update you do not have to do it. Contact your hosting provider to see if they think it is needed.

Yes, I'm running 2.5 now. It took a little getting used to but now I love the new dashboard.

I usually wait a few weeks until its stable chillpill

Sometimes the new version has bugs and it can be a disaster.
