I think that providing templates for blogs is the easiest way to go. Then you add links to your niche sites based on the theme of the blog e.g. a car theme blog would link to your site about cars for sale. The mistake that most template authors make is to not use keyword anchor text and only link back to one web page.
Also, there may be widgets that you could code to link to sites such as stats or feed widgets.
Providing your own feeds as content for other sites must be a good way too. For example, Associated Press provide news feeds but the feeds have a link for every news snippet. |

| Yes, backlinks increase your seo output. Getting links is the most important game. |

| I think it is best to build backlinks slowly from credible forums and blog comments. If you spam or go too fast Google will penalize you for real. |

| Templates for blogs are easy, but you have to watch out for spammers. I was reading on the Google webmaster forum that they were banning people from the SE for having blog sponsorships. |
