Although there are many important steps to take when implementing a successful online business, I've decided to point I three that are important for me, and may also help you.

1.   Don’t be in a big hurry to accomplish everything all at once:
Take your time and cover all of the bases with setting up your advertisement methods appropriately.  By taking the time to dot your I’s and cross all of your T’s, you will develop great efficiency when it comes to conducting your daily tasks.  You won’t miss out on anything in the long run by being thorough from the start.

2.   Build opt-in marketing lists:
Building an opt-in list is one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself.  Whenever you refer someone to, or sell a product through your online source, always get your client’s name and email address.  By doing this, you are building a solid foundation for future advertisements and sales.

3.   Develop a scheduled routine, and stick to it:
In almost every facet of life where you can observe a successful system at work, whether it is in nature, or business, you will notice established cycles and routines.  When building an internet business, the same principles must be applied.  Ancient Egypt was not built in a day.  The pyramids didn’t just pop-up overnight.  It’s important to establish a scheduled routine and maintain a constant vigilance in maintaining it.

The best way to start an op-in email list list is to give something away for free - like an ebook or something else that will provide some kind of value - that way, there is an incentive to sign up. Also I recommned using Aweber as your autoresponder service. It does cost $20 a month, but I don't recommend using free autoresponders because they usually result in ads popping up all over the place, which can detract away from your links.

I really need to start creating an opt-in mailing list for the site I'm running now.  I looked at Aweber and it is a bit out of my price range atm but maybe when I make a few bucks I can start it up.

Thanks for all the great ideas !!

Everybody talks about opt-in mail lists as if they were the goldmine. It's not true. Most mail campaign success rates are below 2% and lucky if they can convert 1% of the time. Anybody who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.

I still get emails from gurus or websites I haven't visited in years. They might figure I'm not interested but they keep sending their junk and cluttering my inbox. If anything, I would use their competitor just because I hate junk email as much as wasteful junk mail solicitations.

I am reading a book from Seth Godin called Permissive Marketing and it says you should let the customer come to you not go after the customer and pressure them.

Agree to #3. Working from home really need self-discipline. Problems usually come from your own. So it is important to have a proper schedule. Know when to work and know when to stop working. Set a definite working schedule and stick with it. Wink
