does submitting articles to article directories a good way to build links even if you are submitting the same content only to different sites?

You are very right but in the case of article submission and directory submission, we have to wait for a long time for approval and after that we can get its benefits. Isnt it?

Link building is probably one of the most important things to do and counts for a lot in the search engine result pages. Of course there is a lot more that can be done. You can submit your site to RSS feeds, and bookmark in the social networks such as Delicious, Stumble Upon, Digg etc. Business directories and article directories are good places for submissions as well. If you own an ecommerce website then have tell-a-friend widgets on your site, because a personal referral from a trusted source about your product or service can significantly increase the chances of conversion.

I build my backlink by subscribing to a service for $5 a month and they will provide 30 high PR dofollow websites that I can link to every month.

I don't think Link building is one of the most important things to do, but it is the most important thing for getting your site up in the search engines. And yes articles are a great way to do just that. Someone mentioned before that they submit the same articles to different directories, I usually don't do this because I just like submitting duplicate content as the search engines usually only count the first set of content, then stag the duplicates and don't count them.

I'm a little confused by the duplicate content issue. If I submit the same article to 5 different directories but rewrite the first and last paragraph of each article will I still have to worry about duplicate content or do you think I would be ok?
