Search engine traffic is the best traffic for me because it is targeted. Begin optimizing your site using the not so competitive keywords by getting more sites link to yours. Try to get links from sites which are related to your niche. If submitting in directories, choose the most related category for your site. If submitting to social bookmarking sites, use your keywords as tags.

Could you list some social bookmarketing sites? thank you!

One of the methods to increase traffic to websites is by building backlinks. This has also become possible through social network marketing which is the prime factor to increase backlinks to your website. The page rank of a website also depends on the quality of backlinks and linking with such social networking sites can offer you with such type of benefit.

What about writing articles on different topics related to whatever it is your trying to promote, let say you were promoting a TOMTOM, that's obviously what people type into google when there looking for one too.

so your best bet, to get that traffic is to make a page on your site (or blog) about TOMTOM, then write some articles about TOMTOM and submit them to places like ezinearticles.com ideamarketers.com and the chance that your article will show up the keyword "TOMTOM" is very likely as long as you've done a good job writing it and there's not to much competition for the keyword.

That would bring a ton of traffic to your site, especially if you had a thousand different products or info that people look for on your site to write about.

Some people say that writing articles is a waste of time but there has to be something to it or so many people wouldn't keep doing it.

Find 20 different forums in your online niche. For example, if you sell DVDs online, type in "dvd forums" into your favorite search engine, I recommend Google.

Join all 20 of those forums.
