What about writing articles on different topics related to whatever it is your trying to promote, let say you were promoting a TOMTOM, that's obviously what people type into google when there looking for one too.
so your best bet, to get that traffic is to make a page on your site (or blog) about TOMTOM, then write some articles about TOMTOM and submit them to places like ezinearticles.com ideamarketers.com and the chance that your article will show up the keyword "TOMTOM" is very likely as long as you've done a good job writing it and there's not to much competition for the keyword.
That would bring a ton of traffic to your site, especially if you had a thousand different products or info that people look for on your site to write about. |

| Some people say that writing articles is a waste of time but there has to be something to it or so many people wouldn't keep doing it. |

Find 20 different forums in your online niche. For example, if you sell DVDs online, type in "dvd forums" into your favorite search engine, I recommend Google.
Join all 20 of those forums.
Create a signature file that has your name and link to your website. |
