It can never hurt to advertise on other sites. This is ususally a good way to generate no search engine traffic.

Social bookmarking (stumbleupon, delicious, digg, reddit, mixx, furl.net, slashdot) and social networking (facebook, twitter, orkut, multilply) are good source of traffic.

if want to improve your traffic for free, i suggest you do blog commenting, social bookmarking, article submission, directory submission and forum posting. Using these strategies will help in gaining more backlinks and web traffic.
