That list is a good and thorough one, covering online techniques. But here's an offline method that is unusual, creative and definitely does work:

If you write your URL in chalk repeatedly on busy streets, you're bound to get quite a few clicks coming through. And it's such an unusual technique that you've got a good chance of having some bloggers, or maybe even journos for mainstream news sites, posting the link on their sites.

I know this to be the case, because when someone had done this in my suburb, I wrote a post about it on my blog, including a link!

Very nice list of ways to create backlinks. I am in a pretty weird industry and many of the suggestions listed probably wouldn't work all that well, but I think several are great for us. I'm sure I will be looking back at this article many times to work on my back linking. Thanks!
