ouch, ning . com has pr 8 on its home/index page but not the sub domain or inner pages, once you have signed up on thier site,you are only part of sub domain and definetly you don't have the PR8 that ning . com has.

Yes, It's true. I have created one social network in Ning and it has do follow link to my website. You can try it to get good backlink.

good discovery. But we don't know how long it will appear in the seach engine. YOu should keep your account live and active, than the search engine can discover your link.
