Excellent tip!! You can use this trick to also find .gov and .edu blogs by changing the term "forum" to "blog"

how we can post in a blog, as there is no option and from my point of view, we can only comment with our link out there

thx for the tips. Do you find most of the .edu and .gov forums are no follow and/or bugged? I run into a lot of them and they seem either dead or invite only a lot of the times. Guess you have to get creative with the search strings, but then again a .edu link is no more valuable than a .com, it's all about PR!

These are new ideas to me.
I've been looking for gov and edu sites too and I'm having a hard time searching for it.
Glad that I found this thread.
You know gov and edu sites are SERP friendly so I'll go for it.
Thank you for sharing dude!

try this one:

inurl:blog site:.edu -"must be logged in"

results will give you edu blogs that you don't have to register on to make a comment.

Just type the keyword related to forums for .gov and .edu, e.g. "Forums list of .gov" etc into Google SE.

Also, you can use the same trick with adding in "leave a comment" etc, and only search .edu and .gov.  As long as you leave a decent comment, you'll get your comment approved =)
