Adam Audette has written a very good article on using the nofollow tag for pagerank sculpting :

8 Arguments Against Sculpting PageRank™ with Nofollow | AudetteMedia

The most appealing argument to me is this one of his

8. There’s No Standard

There are multiple definitions for nofollow, each engine may treat the attribute differently, and there is no set standard. The official and/or original definition of nofollow is, “I don’t endorse this page,” which is inconsistent with the goals of nofollow as it’s used in PR sculpting and may or may not be consistent across all the engines.

What do you think ?

Vishenda, you are right about that. I only use social networks and forums that don't use nofollow.

I think nofollow is ridiculous. Why should webmasters have to change the way they create pages because Google says so. I've not heard any other search engine making a stink about using nofollow except for Google and their lapdog Matt Cutts. My suggestion is to forget about Google and build your site the way you want to. As an example, when I was creating this forum, I never once checked my Google PR or my SERPS in Google because 90% of the time a site that contains good content or is trying to establish a community grows by word of mouth, not from search engine results.
