it depends on what redirection to use. If you use 302 redirect, sometimes google considers it as spam. Use 301 redirect. 301 redirect also knows as permanent redirect will help you avoid duplicate content. For example. domain dot com www.domain dot com domain dot com/index.php www.domain dot com/index.php all points to the same page. So thats 4 same pages. Google will identify this as 4 different pages containing the same content. If you dont fix it, you will be penalized. Thats were 301 redirect comes in. If you are using domain dot com the rest should all be redirected to that page...same thing if you use www.domain dot com.
I hope it helps. |

| 302 redirects are actually temporary redirects and they're usually used to spoof pagerank which is why Google doesn't like them. Using 301's is the recommended method by Google, however, if you are using 301's to redirect error pages or missing pages to your index or another file, take my advice and generate a 404 error page when something isn't found. Google hates multiple 301 redirects to the same page. I got whacked on one of my stes with that. |

yeah thanks for you advice... and in fact why say 301 redirect is at no used? Could not using a 302 redirect internally hurt a site? I have a site that’s struggled in Google (it’s slapped Supplemental) :( , but my site offers nothing but content. Anyway, twice I have internally moved pages and both times I didn’t not place 302 redirects because at the time I did not know what a 302 was. I figured it wouldn’t be a problem, but now Googlebot never visits my site anymore…
