I have a website from which users will be allowed to download a program for a trial period.

The program will run for 100 days and will then stop, requiring to be re-activated.

The re-activation is carried out by accessing a web page which executes a cab file, the aim is to ensure that this page is only accessible after payment of a one off fee using a credit card.

I have spent around three weeks trying to implement paypals IPN and PDT scripts in order to try to create this web page on the fly when a user pays with a card, however I found paypal support to be less than helpfull and eventually gave up.

I am hoping that someone may have some advice that will help here. My html and cgi experience is limited !!!

Thanks in advance

Paypal is the most respected money transfer on the net. You should only take Payapl to show trust.

My site is not working now, check back later.

I did try to find for other Payment Processing Solutions but I just failed finding one. Paypal seems to have built a quite great reputation when it comes to this kind of solution. Maybe what you need is just a quite tweaks on your tasks. Just ask help from PP support groups.

If you're looking for an alternative. Please don't use the information available at

http://www.paypalsucks.com

It is CardServices International who run that site and they are worse than Paypal.

Try Moneybookers or ccBill if you need a non merchant account solution.

You're going to have a really hard time getting people if you don't accept paypal.  Trust me, I've tried.  You can try moneybookers, but again, heavily consider paypal as your alternative.
