I'm reading that optimizing your website for mobile devices is important but my question is with so many types of devices, how do you test a website for maximum mobile devices?

Obviously an iPhone and an iPad are going to render pages differently but is there some way to test how your site looks if you don't own or have access to those devices?

Springbox's Mobilizer has a pretty cool WebKit-based Adobe AIR app lets you preview mobile content as if it were viewed through different phone shells

This is a question I have been asking myself for awhile. Some of my clients want a mobile version of their sites. Springbox Mobilizer sounds like it might be a great tool. I heard that Dreamweaver CS5 now has the ability to create previews for mobile sites. Have any of you tried previewing your mobile sites with Dreamweaver CS5?

Also ask your friends and family to test out your website. Do they have some different types of phones?

There is a very nice Wordpress plugin called WP Mobile Detector which has several excellent qualities: it not only detects which kind of device is being used, it optimizes the website for that device, provides reporting on what devices are being used to access your site and (this is the best one) it's free!!
