Based on the result of Darren Rowse’ latest poll on his Problogger blog, a huge percentage of bloggers admitted that they did not make good money last year. Apparently, the poll result of the last 2 years is almost the same. Although the results may not be scientific, I think they are realistic enough.
Now, the question is – will they be able to make good money this year? The fast answer is no, but let me elaborate further.
It is not that they are doing it on a part time basis only, as there are employed bloggers who are earning good money. In fact, there are even teenage bloggers who are also making it big. Therefore, it is the strategy that makes the difference.
Most bloggers enjoy socializing with each other but avoid the forums that can help them. They join overcrowded social sites, and leave comments on top blogs that are not related to their niche.
Consequently, they have affiliate widgets in their blogs but they rarely talk about the products they sell. They focus on increasing their subscribers, instead of finding potential buyers.
They want to make money from Adsense but they do not place ads on top of their posts. This is because they don’t want their readers to be annoyed with them. In fact, they even choose the niche they want even if it is not popular.
Furthermore, they work hard to get high PR but ignore the importance of SERP. They thought that building backlinks only needs quality to make it on top of the search engines.
Lastly, they spend more time in making quality content than promoting their blogs. Their traffic may be high but not the targeted ones.
In short, they fail to optimize the use of the two most important words in Internet marketing - relevant connection.
So will bloggers make good money online in 2009? No, not unless they will change their strategies. Why Bloggers Will Not Make Good Money Online In 2009 |

I think this prediction is already come to pass. Many bloggers and even the top ones like Dosh-Dosh have slowed down or stopped on blog posting.
Maybe it is time to find something new? |

| I definitely had some time constraints in the past year that made my blogging take a backseat while I took care of "life", but I'm determined to keep my blog current this year and so far I've done pretty good at staying on task. |
