I want to create my own favicon file (the icon used in your browsers bookmarks) for my site but I need to do it in Photoshop but Photoshop desn't have an option to save a file as a .ico icon file. How do I do this? Do I have to export it to another program ?

Please help.

I use this website to do make a 16x16 .ico file from a .jpg .gif or .png file I created in photoshop

I usually start with a 90x90 image file and it converts best if you use less colors and make sure to use >Save for Web> to save the file as a .gif (indexed color).

One question still,,,,,,,,, Is there a way to save an .ico file in Adobe Photoshop without using a website or generator?

Yes, you can download a free plugin from Telegraphics for Photoshop to create an .ico file in native Photoshop. See this article for more help

Thanks for the info. working grand.

my skills - good at Flash, Illustrator and Photoshop but mainly vector art.

I was never having to make the favicon so made it at 64x64 with resize to 16x16 but not able to save as .ico huh
