I have never accepted what many people have kindly said — namely that I inspired the nation. Their will was resolute and remorseless, and as it proved, unconquerable. It fell to me to express it.

I started a forum thinking it would be something fun. An easy job for me to do to make a few extra dollars. My nightmare only started as I was fighting spammers from the first tims I promoted my forum. It was only a small niche and I had my family and friends on the forum but some spammer would join up and post 100 or more spam messages in the middle of the night. That would take me hours from my day to delete the spam and ban the user. What a waste of time.

Why do spammers do this? People like me try to be honest and I never even posted my link in most all forums I go to out of respect. Spammers have no respect, no identity and no self value. They do things that are like street criminals and deserve punishment for when they break a good person and their family.

Sorry to hear you shut down your forum because of spammers. Couldn't you have just put a spam protection on the forum to stop this from happening?

What is considered spaming? I have heard this from time to time on different forums. Is it pop-ups, links inside post, links in signature, banners, or what? I have seen links in signatures on this fourm. As you can probably tell I am a little new to posting on any forum. I did not know what a computer was until 10 grade, yea go ahead laugh I can take it! roflmao I wish someone could clear this issue up so I dont make that mistake. And by the way, that is ENOUGH laughing.  laugh

Spam is an advertisement.. It has no other purpose than to get you to click on something or sign up for something. In general forum signatures are ok as long as the poster is being a contributor to the community and not just posting to get his signatures seen. However every forum is different and has different guidelines.

Spammers also create usernames and post porn or drug links in their signature or profile but never post a topic.

I see more of these type spammers joining my forum.

Looks like you've been targeted by the IHM. If it's your site, why are you worried about banning users? You have a TOS, right?
