February 2008 is the TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY of Code4Gold Forum's launch.
While it's been a hectic and at some times frightening experience over the last two years, this forum has continued to grow and become a more positive place for online entrepeneurs to gather and exchange ideas.
Design and Layout You may have noticed a "softening" of the colors and graphics on Code4Gold forum - that is to create a more peaceful atmosphere for ideas to be exchanged. The majority of cluttery banner advertisments have also been removed to improve the readability of this forum.
SEO Overhaul and Profile Pages Additionally, I've done a complete SEO overhaul of this forum after issues arose with a previous moderator creating an SEO nightmare for this site. For all you novice and experienced SEO's out there, I'm trying to make posting here on this forum, as rewarding as possible for members. I have created a flow for the search engines spidering this forum and where most forums do not follow the links to a members profile page, I have chosen certain spots to allow the search engines to follow. What this means is that your profile page will end up with "link juice" if you post here frequently. Some members here already have profile pages that are PR3 and I've coded it so you can list a website, your blog, a Squidoo page all on top of your signature !! I'll be adding the ability to add your MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Del.icio.us to your profile page.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with SEO and pagerank, in a nutshell, having a page anywhere with PR is money. In order to reward the most loyal posters on this forum, I've coded a new feature that shows the "Top Posters" for each area of the forum. The overall top posters are displayed on the front page which is guaranteed to make their profile page rank !!
Profitsharing I'm toying with the idea of implementing some sort of profit-sharing system like DigitalPoint Forums have. DP allows you to enter your Adsense publisher ID in your profile and whenever you start a thread and Adsense is shown, you have a 50/50 chance of your publisher ID being used. I've started some useful topics at DP and I've acrually earned close to $25 from them. I'd like to use a similar system here. Additionally, such as Squidoo allows publishers to add Amazon and eBay items to their Squidoo lens and Squidoo splits commissions 50/50, I was thinking of adding the same functionality to each members "profile page". It could be rewarding for active forum members and everybody benefits from working together.
Please feel free to respond to this thread with any comments, suggestions or questions. |

Eric, I can add to a couple of questions you had for Dace
#1 - So you're saying we can use our profiles to promote as a homepage or a landing page for what we might be marketing of our services or products?
#2 - How about a marketplace where those of us who don't really have stuff to market but are loyal top posters can sell our profile or signature space? I know the taxes issue is the first thing that comes up, but what if the ad sales on a page were direct to the member so they were responsible for the taxes ??
#4 - Can you add a few fields to the profile like bio, school history
#1- I think Dave's idea is to use free SEO as an incentive for webmasters, bloggers and SEO's to post here. Our profile pages are like our own personal website except ithas more visibility like a myspace page because we have the C4G forum and network being crawled by search engines all the time. We can use our profile page here to boost our other websites, blogs, myspace page, squidoo lens or marketing sites
#4 - To Dave, I'd like to see you add Flickr album capabilities and maybe a Last.fm or YouTube playlist.
My suggestion, can we have a field html some capablities like myspace and can we change the style sheet to make custom pages like on mypace?

I'm down with the new reward system
profit sharing would be cool and all but if I pimp out my profile page and use it like my business page and get into the list at the top that it's got draw. I been checkin out other members profiles if they on the top list. thats how I know the reward system works.
when are we gonna be able to seriously pimp out our profiles like a myspace page? can you make a thing to let us put our own CSS on the profile and trick it out ?
thanks tho, for the cool forum and btw I like the colors but them buttons like this one gotta go. I don't like them but don't change nothin else. |
