I try to sell my iPhone on eBay. The buyer purchased the iPhone and tried to back out of my sale after winning the auction. eBay forced them to complete the sale. Then the buyer waited 11 days and claimed my phone "was not as described"(even though it was and I had 5 pictures of it in the listing!). eBay sided with the buyer, returned their money, and I have yet to see my iPhone returned to me. I continue to try to reach eBay but they have 45+ minute wait times and keep dropping my call after 30 minutes.

You didn't get your phone returned to you and eBay gave the buyer a refund? How can they do that?

That's good to know. I was going to try to sell my iPhone on eBay but now I'll use Craigslist instead.

They can do this, through pay pal. Have you tried getting a hold of them through live op on the sight. Maybe you can at least get the money back if the item was not returned.
