Today eBay announced via FAQ that starting in late October, the only
acceptable payment methods to use when purchasing items on the
auction site will be:

    - PayPal

    - Credit or debit card payment to seller

    - ProPay, or

    - Payment upon pickup

That basically means no checks or money orders. They claim they're
doing this to provide users with a more "secure checkout experience".
Ironically, I know some people that won't even use eBay or PayPal
because they don't want to provide credit/debit card information for
security purposes.

They can't do anything right these days. I think it's time they fired the higher ups and got it together.

They need a new life or something cause honestly, ever since eBay dropped the CJ affiliate program, things have went downhill!

Well ,they turned in a better earnings than expected for Q3. After all the fuss with eBay this last few months, I'm very suprised their earnings were actually up.

I'm actually rather happy about this change. IMO going paperless is the way to go. Plus, there has been a lot of fraud with checks and money orders, especially money orders. I wouldn't even accept checks or money orders before they did this, after having dealt with a fake money order before. I realize that most people are honest, but I'd rather not take the chance when it comes to me getting my money. Just thought I'd throw a conflicting opinion into the mix.

Does anyone know why eBay made this change?  Why would they virtually eliminate buyers skittish about sharing their personal information? Juist as Ofthemix says, most people are honest. The decision to accept checks and money orders should be left to the seller's discretion.

I've been using Paypal a year ago for payments but never tried "Payment upon pickup" how does it works?
