I have only used eBay a couple of times and when I did I was pleased at I got for my money. On my latest purchase I bought and brand new sealed Blue-Ray movie for under £7 which is cheaper than buying the DVD in my local shop.  Also before that I brought a PlayStation Eye from Hong Kong for £12 when here in the UK they reatail at £25. So I am happy with eBay the moment in time.

I've been an ebay member for years. I used to buy and sell daily, spending hours and a lot of my money on there. I hadn't been on ebay for a few months and when I went back there it was desolate, totally devoid of anything worth buying. They've clamped down on far too much stuff (what can and cant be sold and how things are allowed to be sold). I understand why theyve done it but they ruined the site imo. I dont use it now.

eBay SUCKS!

eBay is only in it for eBay. They don't care about their sellers, they never have. It's all about the buyer. I remember years ago when ebay had it posted right on the front of their web site that they were not affiliated in any way shape or form with paypal and now ebay owns paypal (as well as craigs list) . Paypal and eBay both charge WAY too much to list and sell, they have changed their rules so much to the point now that sellers that have been selling for 15 years now have closed their accounts.

eBay has too many rules. Allot of their items they REQUIRE you to accept paypal and ONLY paypal in order to be able to sell, yet they don't give you a reduced fee for that. They are making you accept their payments methods which happen to be the companies they own and they charge you for it as well.

so again I say they SUCK  banghead

I think eBay is a great place for buyers. I do quite a bit of my shopping on eBay.

eBay isn't quite so great for sellers anymore. The market is just too competitive. Now a days, a lot of wholesalers are cutting out the eBay middleman. This makes it incredibly hard to find a profitable market niche.

I'm also not very fond of the unfair seller feedback system, where a buyer can leave negative feedback on a seller but the seller can't do the same to difficult unreasonable buyers. That puts the seller at the mercy of the customer. This is absolutely horrible, especially for new sellers who can have their account closed quickly by negative feedback from unreasonable buyers. When I first started selling, my account was almost shut down for this reason. When you first start selling . . . the customer is ALWAYS right, no matter what. Your business life blood depends on that feedback. Now that my feedback score is high enough, I don't give in to unreasonable customers. They can negative feedback me if they want. It's not going to put a dent in my day.

Sorry for the rant, just had to get that out.

Oh, and yeah, eBay IS greedy. Between their fees and PayPals fees (which are technically still their fees), it's hard to make a living on eBay alone.
