I'm not sure if it was the holidays or my new sites but Amazon has been converting like crazy for me recently. I'm actually making $15-$25 per day recently and as I keep adding more product pages to the sites I've optimized for Amazon, it seems I'm making more and more. I fell into a little secret when helping a client create his site recently and it led me into a new strategy for using Amazon.

If you're going to use Amazon to monetize a site, it's best to work in reverse order... Instead of creating a site, adding content and then trying to monetize it, you have to create a site for a *specific* product niche. As an example... Here's a Wordpress blog optimized for Amazon (also uses Chitika and Adsense)...

The site is based on a specific product, cellphones and ringtones. It has catchy graphics and the layout is in a blog format with each post geared for a specific product. The thing to remember is that Amazon allows you to use their copy data in any way you want with their affiliate program. In this case, worrying about duplicate content, etc is pointless, alll you have to do is use the provided content and drive hits to the site and it will pay for itself.

nice post Dave , however after recently buying  a new mobile, one has to excuse my hatred of mp's i hate mobile phones and thats all i have to say.

lol
what on earth were they thinking making the buttons so small and then putting java games on them.

i need a xbox controller to play the damn things.

I do believe as time goes on the returns from various search engines will increase as they specialise to certain markets and googles influence is diminished. This is already occurring with local engines across Asia as they cater for their localities needs.

Excellent post. You just gave me the best ideas for my future in affiliate marketing. I was under the assumption that one created a website, added content and then monetized it.

So what you're saying is to create content around the monetization. Am I reading this correctly?

Use something you like as a niche. I made a page for Horror DVD's and I've already made my first sales in less than two weeks. I hope it continues because if I can make $50 per month for one site that costs me $5 per month to run, I'm in profit by $45 per month before taxes  Weep but if I can clone my idea and make 20  sites earning this much and think of how the profit will grow after time when I'm adding more content every day.

That's the trick. Keep adding more content every day (or as often as you can). Make sure to keep creating new pages on your site that are specific to the product (a final landing page).

chillpill Don't just create pages or blog posts  for spam purpose but if you keep a good 2:5 ratio on a blog (2 posts out of 5 that are a ptich). Also, reserve your "pitches". Do a bit of homework and find the most lucrative things to promote because if you're using "Ghetto Makerting" (ie: posting on forums and blogs but can't afford to buy links or ads) - If you're using "Ghetto Marketing", you need to have respect and gain trust but when, as a salesperson, you make a pitch, you have to know it's something that in you're heart that you believe in.

Ghetto Marketing -  I love it!  I've never heard that before.  I know the thread that started this is a little old, but I was dissapointed the link for the ringtones was dead- How did that end up?

That tactic holds water for any affiliate promotion that you are doing. Whether you are building a site, a blog, posting a Squidoo lens, or sending and email campaign... you must design your content around the niche that you are promoting to.

Definitely a good post for anyone to read and apply to their daily practice.
