comment "Gas War" Murder for Profit - 3 Pennies for a life

Filed under: News of the Wierd, Gas and Oil Prices — C4G @ 10:51 am

Gar War MurderIn a war over gas prices, the seemingly petty back-and-forth bickering between two rival gas station owners in Detroit, Michigan ended in tragedy as one of the men shot and killed the other over the lowering of prices by 3 cents.

A fatal bullet to BP station owner Jawad Bazzi’s head was the end result of Bazzi walking across the street with a couple of employees to confront the Marathon owner, Hussah Masboath, and his posse regarding Masboath dropping his price from $2.93 from $2.96 per gallon.

The two groups of Middle Eastern men argued in Arabic, then began throwing punches. One of Bazzi’s employees hit a Marathon employee with a baseball bat, severely injuring him. That’s when the Marathon owner grabbed his handgun and fired three or four times hitting Jawad Bazzi, 45, of Dearborn Heights was shot in the head.

Sgt. Eren Stephens Bell, a spokeswoman for the Detroit police told reporters that the shooter and Marathon owner, Hussah Masboath was taken into police custody. Additionally Bell said that charges had not yet been filed against the alleged gunman.

Following the “Gas War” shooting, Masboath’s Marathon station was closed by law enforcement but the dead man Bazzi’s family and employees took advantage of losing their competition and hiked prices 13 cents per gallon to $3.09.

Right in the heart of America you have an Arab battle and hardly any media covers it. The won’t even release the name of the shooter which you provided, when I searched the story.

Thank you providing more details than the msm.

    @Mapwife
The name was already released (I found it through Google news). Any journalist worth their salt always does their research before making a commentary. This particular story is utterly disgusting and dispicable considering both parties were gas station owners (ie:greedy capiatalists). It’s not a street crack dealer shooting another crack dealer for selling “spider bags” on a corner in Baltimore (LOL, I watch “The Wire”)…

The real story is the shameless people who run the station that wasn’t shut down raised their prices but .13 per gallon following the murder.

They’re nothing but a bunch of sand niggers and camel jockeys. One less raghead in the world? Who cares. We’re all better off every time one of them dies anyway.

That’s not a good attitude. As my dad who was a 101st Airborne soldier in Korea taught me, “We all bleed the same color”. No matter what anybody tries to say, a human being lost his life, and that’s nothing to joke about. It’s a pretty sick thing if you think about it that a man is dead because of retail competition.

I agree with you Dave. Another human losing his/her life is absolutely nothing to joke about, no matter what kind of person they are. But Mr. Phelps is well known for his hatred .. it’s sad really.

Thanks for posting this story .. I hadn’t heard about it until you shared it.

It’s a sad story but it’s pathetic that somebody would make some lame anti-arab comments on a blog like this. Good that you publish everything everyone writes tho bcuz censorship sucks worse

I raised the price to $3.099 to lower the traffic comming thru the gas station, before knowing my uncle passed away, if i would have knowed he was gone, I would have closed the staion down for sometime, We lost a great member in the community, and for the racist white boy (FRED PHELPS) I have no doubt that your more broke than the broken puzzle in the news paper, How do feel now paying $ 4.29 a gallon, I guess the nigar sands in saudi arabi enjoying your dollars, stop driving and ride ****.

@Mike Bazzi - Although I feel for you losing a member of your family, the person who made the off colour comments here in no way reflects this blogs ethics. I publish each and every comment that is not spam because the idea is to *fuel* discussion (pun intended).

As far as you’re attitude about Americans paying more at the pump, I guess you’re paying the increase as well because you live in America. For me, I don’t really give two rips how high gas prices go because I use about one tank of gas per month and I do a lot of outsourced tech work for companies in Abu Dhabi so maybe my fuel dollars go over there but I make more from my intellectual work than I shell out. :-)

Furthermore, in America, you have the right to leave here anytime you want unlike other countries that restrain their citizens. If you don’t like it here, why not go back to Saudi Arabia?? Hell, I’d love to go live in Abu Dhabi even more than Amsterdam. At least there’s a lot of well-educated intellectuals with class in Abu Dhabi !!

I have a horrible feeling this will become the norm over time as gas gets more and more unreasonable…

This is the first time I read something about people kill other people due to price competition on fuel. On past days, I only heard about other business competition that ended up with some killings.
